Denise is a Registered Nurse with a Masters of Education who welcomes the opportunity to join the instructional team for RHSC 583. She is currently working as the coordinator of a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians supporting adults with intellectual disabilities on Vancouver Island. The team is comprised of nurses, occupational therapists, a physical therapist and a dietitian, all supporting clients and their caregivers to live their best lives at home and in the community. Denise worked as a nurse in acute care in pediatrics and maternity previously, and has taught both in-class and online for the local Practical Nursing program since 2015. Denise enjoys supporting people re-entering the education realm, and seeing the ‘light bulb’ moments that happen for students during the course of their studies. She also has a passion for supporting end-of-life care in community, and is currently exploring how to best support clients with disabilities to die with dignity at home.
With her children grown and leaving the nest, Denise is enjoying adventuring around Vancouver Island, playing tennis, and reading for the pure enjoyment of it!
